Since its inception 16 years ago, the Two Rivers Garden Tour has raised in excess of $2 million for the Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center at Monmouth Medical Center. As we plan each year for this event, we are frequently asked what sets the Breast Center apart from other similar facilities. The answer is simple: No other facility in central New Jersey provides a total comprehensive approach to breast care, delivered by a multidisciplinary team of physicians and health professionals representing many medical disciplines. These professionals work together to provide women, and men, too, with a full range of services, including diagnostic testing, treatment, surgical, medical, psychosocial support, education and rehabilitation services. But most importantly, medical record outcome data has been compiled that shows that thousands of women treated at our breast center have indeed some of the finest results ever documented and one of the lowest recurrence rates in the nation.

The Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center at Monmouth Medical Center offers the most-comprehensive array of breast services – for both well and cancer care -  to all women regardless of their socioeconomic circumstances, and consistently remains a leader in breast cancer research, technology, diagnosis and treatment. As one of a select group of international medical centers, it participates in the prestigious federally funded DMIST clinical trial. This is the largest study ever to compare routine and digital mammography in a screening population.

The progress of the Breast Center would not be possible without fundraising and private donations. This year’s event will raise the capital to purchase Breast Specific Gamma Imaging (BSGI) equipment. A BSGI is a molecular breast imaging technique that can see lesions independent of tissue density and discover very early stage cancers. We are proud to say we will continue to lead the way in the advancement of technology to keep the Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center at the forefront of care.

Our Two River Garden Tour weekend begins Friday May 21st with an Evening Soiree. Eight spectacular gardens will be open for walking Saturday May 22nd and Sunday May 23rd. Your participation in the Two Rivers Garden Tour and generous support as a sponsor is vital to our success in raising the funds needed to remain at the forefront of breast cancer detection, diagnosis and treatment.
